Q. Why was my 3 year old son listed as an other dependent and not qualifying for child tax credit?

A. You made a wrong entry in the interview. In particular, he must have lived with you more than half the year (you  must answer 7 months or more), unless you are the non custodial parent. 

If you can't find the error, delete the child and re-enter the info.

It is probably an entry in the My Info section of the TurboTax program.

• What did you put for their age?
• Can anyone else claim the child?
• Did you properly identify their relationship to you?
• Did you indicate that they Do Not provide 50% of their support?
