This means that some things on your return don't match what the IRS has in their database. Here's how you can fix it.

Sign in to your account and select the Fix my return button. Follow any “fix it” instructions to update the information causing the rejection.

Taxpayers with rejected returns are given a code that will explain why. Start here with How do I fix a rejected return?

Then, go here to how do I file an amended return. If you technically never had your return submitted, you are not amending. But, you still must get the CD/Download for the 2018 rules.

The 2019 return can be filed on time before completing 2018.
