Why won't the program file my return? I do not have an ACA plan and checked the box on 1095-A indicating that status.

Program finds error in 1095-A when I check box indicating I do not have ACA plan. I am retired and My insurance is provided by employer when employed How can I cure this problem so I can file?

Clearing the 1095-A may require a two step process.

 

To enter, edit or delete your Form 1095-A -

  • Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
  • Click on Deductions and Credits
  • Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
  • Scroll down to Medical
  • On Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A), click the start or update button
  • If a 1095-A is showing, delete it.

Repeat the same process and answer NO to the question "Did You get a 1095-A.

If you respond No to the question it will generate an ACA explanation form for printing but does not generate the form for electronic transmission causing the return to be rejected
