Question

Will I be able to collect stimulus for my step son? And if so, if I already filed and claimed him, how would I do that

It depends. If you claimed your stepson as your dependent and he was under 17 at the end of 2020 then he would be eligible for the stimulus.

 

If you received a $500 first payment and $600 second payment for him and included those amounts on your income tax return when you filed, then no additional money would be added to your tax return.

 

If you did not receive one or both payments, then those amounts were added as a Rebate Recovery Credit.

 

Check line 30 of Form 1040 to see whether any stimulus was added to your return.
