Will I end up owing taxes after submitting 8379, if I would have owed/underpaid taxes had I filed married-individual?

I had a substantial married-individual return taken due to spouse's debt.  I am concerned that if I submit the injured spouse 8379, the IRS may view me as having underpaid (I would have owed if I had filed married-individual).

The purpose of filing form 8379 with your joint return is to prevent the IRS from intercepting your share of the tax refund to pay your spouse's debt.

The IRS will not and cannot compare your refund on your joint return with what you would have owed if you filed Married filing Separately.
