Will I need a electronic filing personal identification number (PIN) number to file my taxes this year and is that a PIN provided by ID.me?

An Identity Protection PIN is a 6 digit PIN provided by the IRS due to the taxpayer reporting some type of identity theft or just requesting the IP PIN.  The IP PIN is not required to e-file a tax return if you never received an IP PIN from the IRS.
