Will not let me file statin I need to fill out the alimony part. Do not pay or receive alimony

I'm not sure what your question is.

 

If you are trying to determine if you need to report alimony, it depends.  If your alimony was received from agreements signed after 2018, you do not need to report them.  

 

Anything for a divorce agreement executed by December 31, 2018 will need to be reported.

 

Please see the link below for additional information including steps to enter the information if you determine the income is reportable.

 

When to report Alimony payments

 

If however, your return is picking up alimony and you do not have any, you can delete it by going into the federal section of the program.

  1. Select Income & Expenses
  2. Scroll down to All Income and select Less Common Income
  3. Select Alimony received
  4. Answer No indicating you did not receive any alimony or spousal support during 2020.
