Will someone help me figure out why my taxes require “Box 15 Employee ID number”, on one of my W2’s, in order to file electronically?

The state wants to be able to identify the employer through the state issued employer ID number or the Federal EIN.

 

If you did work for this employer the year before, you should have the employee ID number on the previous year’s tax return.

 

This TurboTax Best answer recommends using the Federal EIN in box b of the W-2.
