Question

Will the "VPS TAX SERVICE FEE INTUIT" be refunded if I have the IRS return my credit card payment?

I will be calling the IRS to cancel the credit card transaction that I made through turbotax for my 2022 taxes. Will this automatically get me refunded the TurboTax fee? I missed the little fine print that they charge 2.49% for paying with a credit card.

Please contact Customer Support so they can assist you with this. You will want to use the keywords billing issues when you call so you get to the right person.

I did try speaking with them for an hour a few days ago. They said they cannot cancel payments despite the IRS website stating: "You must contact the card processor to cancel a card payment." (https://www.irs.gov/payments/pay-your-taxes-by-debit-or-credit-card)

They would not allow me to speak to a supervisor or have a ticket opened (if they do those). The woman was quite unpleasant, as in maybe one of the worst human beings I have ever spoken to. Making fun of me for not noticing the fine print of 2.49%. Made me sick to my stomach speaking with her.

I also tried calling pay1040.com, as I guess they do processing for Turbo Tax (which I learned from the IRS website, not from Turbo Tax which is shameful that they hide that). pay1040.com couldn't even find the payment and said even if they could it would need to be cancelled the same day so they couldn't cancel it anyways.

I am trying that line again and will try to ask for billing issues specifically.

Besides this, it was my domestic partners taxes and she accidently used my business card not her card to make the payment. So it shouldn't even be on my card because she mistakenly grabbed the wrong card.

Good times all around. Worst case I have to report it as fraud since I didn't actually approve the charge to be on my card, but I really can't believe turbotax doesn't have a way to do what the IRS website says it needs to.
