I used Turbotax to create a Form 1099misc. Will Turbotax create the required Form 1096?

Yes. When you have finished creating the 1099s you will be given the opportunity to print out both the 1099s and the 1096 [Annual Summary and Transmittal of U.S. Information Returns].

When choosing the opportunity to print the 1099-Misc, it includes Copy C (for payor) but NOT the 1096. I still need the 1096.

The IRS site says you must use the "red Shaded" 1096 form for them to be able to scan it. Does the 1096 printed in Turbo Tax for Home and Business work or does it have to be printed on the Red Shaded form. If so, where can you print the Turbo Tax information on the IRS form 1096

You can get the red forms at office supply stores but you have to fill it out yourself. I used to go to the library to use a typewriter. Just copy the plain copy Turbo Tax prints out.

Is this true? It appears that TurboTax does not print the required information on blank pink forms which you already have. It only prints the complete forms in black for your records. I big deficit for those of us who need to file the pink forms with the IRS! What good does a copy for your records do if you cannot file it with the IRS???

I can get turbotax to create and print form 1096 and forms 1099-MISC for my records, but I cannot get the program to print the information only on the pink blank forms to be sent to the IRS! I have the blank forms, but turbotax only wants to print everything, including the form! How do I get the program to print the information only on my blank pink forms to be filed with the IRS?
