Wisconsin capital loss carryforward

The capital loss carryforward from my 2023 tax return was not carried forward to my 2024 Wisconsin Schedule WD.  This happened once before on a tax return I was preparing with TurboTax, which I reported at that time.

Instructions posted here are from our tax expert @SabrinaD2 and did work for others.  It is posted here for your convenience.

To enter a capital loss carryover on Wisconsin Schedule WD in TurboTax:

    1. Check last year's WI schedule on WD
    2. Short-Term Capital Loss Carryover: Enter the amount from line 34 of last year's Wisconsin Schedule WD on line 7 of this year's Schedule WD
    3. Long-Term Capital Loss Carryover: Enter the amount from line 39 of last year's Wisconsin Schedule WD on line 16 of this year's Schedule WD

You can enter the transactions in TurboTax using the links and steps below:

    1. Open or continue your return - Be sure you are logged in.
    2. Navigate to the capital loss carryover section:
      • TurboTax Online/Mobile: Go to capital loss carryover.
      • TurboTax Desktop: Search for capital loss carryover, and then select the Jump to link.
    3. Select Yes on the screen Did you have investment losses you couldn't claim last year?
