Wisconsin Maternity Leave

Hi, I received short term disability from my job for "6 weeks" (really only 32 days of pay considering policy) after my delivery. The checks came from my employer on the regular pay schedule, and taxes were taken out. All of my earnings were reported on my regular W-2 by my employer.  Do I still need to say that I received paid family leave and report that income separately? If so, how do I determine how much to enter since I did not receive a 1099? Like I said all my taxes on that income were reported to the IRS by m employer.

    It depends.

If your employer paid for all of it, you may not receive a Form 1099-G.  If this is the case, report the information as listed on your W-2 Form.

Any payments for the Paid Family Leave will be reflected in Box 14 of your W-2 form.

It doesn't list anything in box 14. On my payroll checks it was listed as short term disability under my regular earnings area of my check.

It sounds like this wasn't treated as Paid Family Leave then but instead as disability income.

Disability income can be taxable or not taxable depending upon who pays it, who pays the premiums, or if the payments were included in your taxable income.

Based upon your W-2, it appears your W-2 wages already include the portion of the disability payments received that are taxable to you.

You can always contact your HR or payroll department to confirm, but it sounds like you have no other filing requirement in regards to this income as you are already reporting it from your W-2 input.
