Hi all,

I bought a house in 2024 and now trying to fill in the interest details. TurboTax prompted me "Your mortgage is being limited". If I understand correctly, the gives me the ability to override the calculations given by TurboTax.

The column "Our calculations" show a number. To its right there is a box with a number, which if I understand correctly, overrides the tax limitation.  The thing is, I didn't enter this number - I don't know whether TurboTax put this or somehow I did, but to the best of my knowledge, it was not added by me.

Should I leave this number as is? or change it to blank?

Many thanks

Yes, the number in the box on the "Your mortgage is being limited page" is the TurboTax calculation of your limited interest deduction. If you wish to enter your calculated interest deduction, you would replace that number with your number in the box.

If you wish to keep the TurboTax calculated limited interest deduction you can leave the original number in the box or blank the box out, either will work.
