I use TurboTax for 2024 tax. IRS sent me Notice CP11 that  taxable amount of Social Security benefit was an error . ( line 6B is 0 )

IRS Charged interest of 16.07 .

That software error shouldn't happen Could TurboTax refund $$ to me please.

Thanks

We have been seeing users who missed an important screen that came right after the screen to enter their SSA1099.   The very next screen asks you if you lived in certain foreign countries while receiving Social Security.  If you skipped past that screen without clicking an answer or if you answered incorrectly, you were not taxed correctly on your Social Security and now you are getting a letter about correcting that error.

There is a new question this year asking if you lived in a foreign place.  People have been answering it wrong or skipping it.  Go back through the Social Security entries.

You can go back into your tax return but be very careful not to change anything.  Click on Add a State to let you back into your return.  You should see this screen after you enter your Social Security and hit Continue.  What is checked Yes or No?
