Question

Can I claim union dues when paid out of pocket while on maternity leave? Even if it shows on t4 slip (employer did not pay while I was off)

While I was on maternity leave, I paid for my annual union dues out of pocket, however when I check my T4 slip it shows my union dues in box 44 but my employer did not pay for it last year
