Question

I'm a contractor that worked in Canada but for a company based in the UK - do I claim self employment income?

You are considered self-employed if you earn total or supplemental income from freelance contract work that is not taxed at source. In this case, you will fill T2125 form (Statement of Business or Professional Activities) form to declare taxable income and associated expenses/deductions to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
