My father passed away at the beginning of 2023. I did his taxes for him. I have to do his taxes again this year but i cant find deceased option from imprt

im trying to import last years file but its not giving me the deceased option is there a way to import last years file or do i have to start anew?

Are you using TurboTax CD/Download or TurboTax Online?

I’m doing it online. I did his return last year online. I can’t seem to import last years info and be able to choose deceased person in any way.

Unfortunately, you will have to start the return from scratch, as the option to mark the person as deceased is not available when transferring a single return (no spouse) in TurboTax Online.

Please note: TurboTax Online doesn't have form T1255, which is needed if your father owned a principal residence at the time of his death. You can download it from the CRA website, print it and mail it with the rest of his return.
