Question

When I added self employment it was taxed at about 50% I have no idea why?

We were expecting a refund of almost $3000 but when my husband added his self-employment income of about $15000 then it changed to us owing $3700. This is after entering business use of home expenses. How could $15000 require us to pay $7700? Seems way too much
