Question

rejected missing Identity protection pin

What is the best way to resubmit Federal and State forms for 2020 after it was rejected due to a missing indentity protection pin.  When I orginally filled out the forms on Turbotax, I was never asked to provide this #.  I finally just received my pin number from the IRS after chasing them.

Where should this be added and can I e-file again?

Follow these instructions to enter your IP PIN or to remove one that you accidentally entered.

    1. Sign in to your TurboTax account
    2. Open or continue to your return if you don't already have it open
    3. In the search bar type IP pin (don't forget the space)
    4. Select the Jump to link in the search results
    5. On the Identity Protection PIN screen, answer Yes. Select Add and enter your IP PIN in the space provided
      • If you need to remove the IP PIN, select the trash icon
    6. Select Continue, then select Done

Yes you can efile again after entering your IP PIN

Did I understand correctly that the pin can be set independently?

@bentriviani once you requested the PIN from the IRS, they will create the PIN each year. You can't choose your own sequence.
