Wife's birth/driver/passport name different than on home deed

Odd situation. My bride of a few decades was given a birth certificate with--for discussion--"First Middle Last" on it.  But soon after that, family realizes they really wanted "Middle" as the first name. For MANY years everyone has called her "Middle", but of course driver license, SS card, etc have FML on them. (fyi, L changed to mine a long time ago.)   

For some odd reason, when buying our home 40+ years ago, we wound up with my name and hers on the deed (and the mortgage--now paid off).  BUT hers shows as "Middle Last"  (which is what everyone calls her anyway).

We've heard that if we decide to sell or even refinance, we may have to go through a long/painful experience to change that deed. Ouch.   Can there be a more efficient way?   Thanks for any help.
