Question

How to report foreign investment gains with no 1099-B?

Hi,

Moved to the US in 2023. Had money in a UK investment fund/ETF. Closed this account in 2023 and withdrew funds, realised a small gain.

Trying to add this in Turbotax ("Add investments" under "Wages & Income", but the form asks me for information on a 1099-B. I don't have one for this account and won't receive one as it's a UK firm.

I have found older posts on here advising users to select an option "I don't have a 1099-B" but that option no longer seems to be available. Help!

You can choose the Other option when you enter your investment income in TurboTax.

Choose the same option on the investment sale entry screen:

It will be treated as capital gain income.
