As per our TurboTax article Claiming Rent on Your Taxes in Ontario as a parent who lives or previously lived with their child, you can apply for the Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit if you have a low to middle income. This tax credit helps with rent and property taxes paid to your municipal government and is part of the Ontario Trillium Benefit.

    Thank you for choosing TurboTax.

    Thank you very much

I used to give money to my child and she paid through her bank account. I should have claimed from 2017 to 2019 then but I didn’t, can I submit amendments to claim credits retrospectively?

    thanks a lot
