Question

I lost $5000 in a failed real estate transaction in the US (in 2020). Can I have claimed this somehow in my taxes in Canada?

I paid $5000 to a real estate company that lost my trust at which point I stopped making payments on a property I was planning on buying and they did not refund me any of my money. Is this something that can be written off in any way in my income taxes in Canada?

    We would suggest that you contact the CRA at 1-800-959-8281 to see if it can be claimed and if yes, under what.
