My 1099B has no Date Acquired listed. I spoke to the firm issuing the document and they said since is was before 2012 before cost basis was required that the date is not required. They have listed the cost basis. Turbotax flags this as error because there is no date. What do I enter???

There are cases when the issuer of the IRS form 1099-B does not have the information or is not required to report the information that they have.

You may have to refer to your personal records including sales tickets to locate the information that is needed.

Make your best estimate of the Date Acquired.  What is important is that you know that the transaction will be reported as long-term.
