1099B Stock sale "Summary option"

Using TurboTax Desktop(Mac)  : It says I have to mail paper copy of the 1099B for the Stock sale "summary option".

With the online version however for the same "Summary option" using sales section totals (I thought uploading a pdf copy was sufficient for the same).

Could an expert please clarify if I actually need the Web version if I need to upload pdf instead of mailing a copy? Could someone please confirm if this is a limitation of the Desktop version? I am using premier for both online/Desktop (Mac).

Thank you

You can upload and attach a copy of your 1099-B if you are using TurboTax Online.   TurboTax CD/Download doesn’t support 1099-B upload.

if you’re using TurboTax CD/Download, TurboTax will generate Form 8453. You can still e-file your return, but you'll need to mail a paper copy of your 1099-B to the IRS along with Form 8453, which you can print from your online account or from the desktop software.

Mail these completed forms to the IRS at the address below by the tax-filing deadline:

    Internal Revenue Service
    Attn: Shipping and Receiving, 0254

    Austin, TX 73344-0254
