Allocation of internet and television expense between home and attached apartment

Approximately 1/3 of my home is an apartment. I provide DirecTV and internet to the apartment as part of the rent package. The electric bill is on a separate service and paid by tenant. What is the proper allocation of the expenses. Should I split the expenses based on square footage (33/67) or just make it a 50/50 split? Thanks in advance!

You can use any reasonable method for dividing the expense. It may be reasonable to divide the cost of some items (for example, water) based on the number of people using them. The two most common methods for dividing an expense are (1) the number of rooms in your home, and (2) the square footage of your home.
