amending 2023 Wisconsin state return to correct for Cap Loss NOT carried over

I attempted to amend my Wisconsin 2023 state return in TT (desktop) because the Capital loss carryover from the Wisconsin 2022 return did not transfer (import) to my 2023 return.

I kept a copy of my original 2023 WI return, and then selected the 2023 return to amend it. I also followed your TT instructions about amending a return.

Now, I get to the end of the process I get your instructions: "If you are amending your state return, separate it from your Federal return" When I attempt to print the amended Wisconsin state return I only get the Federal forms- NOT the amended state forms.

Questions:

1- what's going on? did I not properly amend the state return?

2- how can I be certain that if I attempt to file the amended state return it will work correctly (i.e., not also re-file the Fed return)?

Try the option to print both the federal and the state. The state amendment might be at the end of the PDF after the federal amendment forms, which is probably why the instructions say to separate it from your federal return.
