Basis of non-producing mineral rights

  1. My deceased mother's estate sold non-producing mineral rights.
  2. She inherited those rights from her father.
  3. The county central appraisal district has not appraised the value of those rights because they are non-producing.

 

Does TurboTax Business (Estate) have the ability to calculate the step-up basis of those inherited mineral rights?

No.

TT, or any similar software, does not have that ability.

That needs to be completed by someone qualified to determine that, and that value, needs to be determined at the date of your mother's passing.
