Can I claim rent deductions on my MA State taxes if I paid rent to a roommate who paid to the landlord?

My roommates name is on the lease, mine isn't. So I pay my half to her which she deposits into her bank account from where the rent payments get taken out.

Yes, if you are paying rent and occupying the property, then you can still claim the portion you pay as rent for the renters credit.  It would be a good idea to have a way of tracking the payments you are making as proof that you are making them such as using a bank to bank transfer app.
