Question

Can I file form 8995 (business loss carryover) when using the Expatfile.tax system? If so, how?

I no longer live in the US but have about 10k in US business losses that are carried over from 2021 taxes.  How can I file that with my expat taxes in 2022?

Carryover net operating losses follow the individual taxpayer.  You just enter the prior year NOL into your tax return and you should be fine.

 

Under 'Wages and Income' on your federal return you scroll down to 'Business Items'.  Click on 'Business Deductions and Credits' and you will find the section for the Net Operating Loss.  Enter the loss from your 2021 return and you should be all set.
