My wife is the sole owner of the LLC.

Yes. Every business owner was originally required. Lawsuits not withstanding, I would not tempt fate. You can file for free. It is easy and should be updated when things change - like the driver's license. The IRS has announced they are expecting changes, like the FINCEN identifier to allow revisions only need to be made for bigger things. However, for now, best to file and update with changes. File at Fincen/BOI
