Entering 1099-S info in 2024 Premier

There may be no need to enter the buyer's portion of real estate tax that you mention on your tax return. I assume you sold a property  and on the form 1099-S reporting the sale is listed the portion of the property taxes for the property that was paid by the buyer. If so, you may need to use that amount to adjust the property taxes you paid on the property to determine the correct amount of property taxes you can deduct on your tax return.

For instance, you may have paid a full year's worth of property taxes for the year on the property, but the buyer is reimbursing you for the portion that applies to the property for the time he or she owns it during the year. If you make an entry for property taxes on your tax return, you may need to reduce the amount you enter down from the amount you paid by the portion paid by the buyer at closing. The property taxes are entered as itemized deductions or rental expenses, depending on your use of the property. 

Since you mention "Investments" I assume you sold a second home or investment property. That should be entered in the Wages and Income section, and then Business Items and then Sale of Business Property:

In that section you will see a screen that says Sales of Business or Rental Property where you enter the sales information listed on your 1099-S form, such as sales price, description and date sold. You should also see a screen that says Total Gross Proceeds where you are instructed to enter the gross proceeds listed on your form 1099-S. You don't need to enter anything additional from the Form 1099-S.
