Question

Federal Identification Number (FEIN)

I am attempting to add my Foreign (Canadian) Investment Income to my US Federal Return. It is my understanding that this needs to be added on the same page as my US Investment Income.

The problem is that this Canadian Bank does not have a Federal Identification Number (FEIN) and TurboTax will not allow me to leave the field blank. What am I supposed to add to this field?

I am surprised by this. TT is not requiring a payer's EIN when I try a test file entering a 1099-INT, 1099-DIV, or 1099-B. In fact for interest and dividends the interview doesn't even ever ask.

How are you trying to enter the information. I'm not sure what you mean by the "same page" as your US investment income as there are different pages for interest, dividends, and capital gains.
