The section in the pdf of my Fidelity investment account tax reporting statement that reads, "

Summary of 2024 Proceeds From Broker and Barter Exchange Transactions 1099-B Section"  for Realized Gain/Loss does not match the imported numbers. It's not even close.

What's going on here?

The software tries its best to match the information retrieved from your financial institution. However, that's not always the case. There can be mismatches trying to load information from different brokers or institutions. It is your responsibility to make sure all data entered is accurate before it's being sent to the IRS.

    • If all the information retrieved is wrong, you can delete it all together and try a different method of entering each section, such as:
      • Snapping a picture of it if you are using the phone/tablet app
      • Uploading the documents directly from your computer, instead of linking the TurboTax account with your financial institution.
      • You can also manually enter each form. (You will need the physical copy to do this)

See the link below for a video and step-by-step how to enter information from an investment income such as Proceeds from Broker and Barter Exchange Transactions from Form 1099-B, Interests from Form 1099-INT etc.

Where do I enter or import a 1099-B?
