Filed 1040 by Mail for Child with Tax Loss Harvesting - No Return Status or TIN

I filed a 1040 for my child who had losses in 2022 for a UTMA account (Tax Loss Harvesting).  I did this to carry forward these losses into future tax years to offset eventual gains.  "Where's my Refund" states my tax return has been received, but no further status has been given after 6+ months of checking.  I filed the return by mail as this was the first year of filing and hoping to finally obtaining a TIN so I may file her 2023 and 2024 taxes online.

How can I get a final disposition on her 2022 return and an established TIN so we may file 2023 and 2024 returns electronically?

Note - I did not record her losses on my own 1040 tax returns.

You need to talk to a human at the IRS. Call 800-829-1040 and don't press any keys. Once the program decides you need a person, you can speak in your native tongue for them to find an interpreter or you can speak English and explain the issue. The IRS is still processing returns prior to your 2022 return.  If this begins to create a hardship, you can contact the Taxpayer Advocate Service. See Taxpayer Advocate | Internal Revenue Service
