1099-B clearly stated "reported to IRS" but in Part II I checked wrong D E F box.  Checked Box E ( not reported to IRS) instead of Box D (reported to IRS)  This caused TurboTax to generate a 8453 that requires me to file within 3 days a 8949.  IRS already has the 1099-B.  Do I need to send them another completed 8949 as it was transmitted with my tax return for 2021.

If you used the 'Summary' method for reporting your 1099-B (instead of individual transactions), you will need to mail a copy of your Form 8949 and 1099-B.

If the 'Filing Instructions' page instructs you to do this, click this link for more info on Do I Need to Mail Form 8949?

So regardless if I checked the wrong box in 8949  - box Part II E instead of D - I still need to mail a copy of my 1099-B and 8949 attached to 8453 Tax Transmittal for an IRS e-file return?  And of course I will need to check the correct box D in 8949 Part II ????
