If you are trying to claim the Minnesota Renters Property Tax Credit Refund, but do not have to file a return, you can file a request by mail.  To mail, you will complete Form M1PR, Homestead Credit Refund (for Homeowners) and Renter's Property Tax Refund.  Renter's filing for the credit will have to include a Certificate of Rent Paid.

how do I file for the it-214 renter rebate.

The form IT 214 is part of the program and is a state credit. From IT 201 line 67, displays the Real Property Tax Credit. You qualify If your gross income is $18,000 or less and you pay $450 or less for rent.
