How do I amend my 2022 Capital Loss Carryover?

If your capital loss available for carryover was incorrect, you should also amend your 2021 return. 

Before you can file an amended return for 2022, the original return will need to have been processed by the IRS (refund issued / payment processed). Also, Form 1040-X for filing an amendment won't be available in TurboTax until February 23, 2023.

To enter the correct capital loss carryover on your 2022 return:

1. Open your return in TurboTax Online
2. With your return open, click Search (the magnifying glass icon)
3. Enter capital loss carryover
4. Click on the link "Jump to capital loss carryover"
5. Click Continue
6. Follow the prompts and enter the information in the spaces provided
