How do I correct my rent credit info after submitting my returns?

My son tried to submit his returns and realized he owed. But when I asked him if he added his rent credit he said no, sine he paid rent directly to me that he just said no to the rent questions. How does he fix this since he cannot delete his returns now?

It depends. Different states offer different renter's credit programs with different qualifications. For example, a renter can't qualify for the California Renter's Credit if they lived with someone who can claim them as a dependent.

If your son has already filed his return, and if he qualifies for a credit not claimed, he can amend his return but not until he's been notified that the State has processed the return and it becomes available to change in TurboTax.
