My company went bankrupt and I was not allowed to sell. Stock delisted. How do I claim this investment loss?

This loss would be reported as if you had sold the stock with the exception of not having a sales price. It would retain it's nature of a sale of investment property.  Use the original date or dates acquired (you can also select 'Various' and the cost.

Follow the steps below to enter your sale.  You can select this link for more  information. Where do I enter investments?

    1. Open or continue your return.
    2. Navigate to the investment sales section:
      • TurboTax Online/Mobile: Go to investment sales (if you already reached the page titled 'My 2024 Tax Return' select the down arrow beside income and select Add Income or Investments... if it's already in the list.
      • TurboTax Desktop: Search for investment sales and then select the Jump to link.
    3. Answer Yes to the question Did you sell any of these investments in 2024? (or Okay! to Time to kickoff your investments!).
      • If you land on the Investment sales summary or Your investments and savings screen, select Add More Sales or Add investments.
    4. Follow the onscreen instructions to either import your investment sale info or enter it in your return yourself.
