I donated Mutual Fund shares to a charity. Turbo Tax options for types of donations are "Items", "Money", "Stock", and "Mileage and travel expenses". How do I enter Mutual Fund shares?

When you enter "Mutual Fund shares" on Form 8283, they they should be listed under the "Stock" selection as Mutual fund shares are considered a type of stock for tax reporting purposes.

Here’s how you can do it in TurboTax:

    1. Open or continue your return. Be sure you are logged in to TurboTax use link in step @.
    2. Go to donations to charitable organizations.
    3. Select the Yes button to answer the question: Did you make any donations to charity in 2024
    4. When you are prompted to choose the type of donation, select "Stock."
    5. Follow the prompts to enter the details of your donation. You will need to provide information such as the name of the mutual fund, the number of shares donated, the date of the donation, and the fair market value of the shares at the time of the donation
    6. TurboTax will automatically generate Form 8283 for you based on the information you provide. Ensure that all the details are correct and complete before finalizing your return

For more detailed guidance, you can refer to the TurboTax support article  on how to enter donations.
