What is the capital asset you sold?

If this is a capital asset, not reported on a tax form, it's an investment sale. Click here for instructions on how to enter it. TurboTax will ask when you acquired the investment and when you sold the investment. If it's longer than one year, TurboTax will categorize it as a long term gain.

If you have a 1099-B form, generally your financial institution will indicate on the form if it's long term or short term. If they don't, you could enter the date you acquired it.
