Question

How do I pay taxes on stocks/dividends if I don't work/report taxes yet? should I ask my dad to include them on his report?

I haven't sold the stocks I have but they paid me dividends, and they are reinvested automatically. I hear you have to pay taxes on that, but I don't know how since I don't work/file taxes yet.

Have your parents include that on their filing along with a Form 8814. as long as those dividends total less than 11,500.

if your earned income and gross income are below the dependent's threshold for filing, you don't have to file a tax return.

you do have to keep accurate records of reinvested dividends for tax purposes in the future.
