Question

How do I view the detail behind rent property depreciation on my return?

Schedule E has a line item of depreciation, I am trying to find the detail behind that number in a prior year return 2022 that was filed last year.  Form 4562 was not a part of the documents that turbo tax provide with my return last year and I need to see how it was calculated.

Form 4562 should have been included, did you enter the rental (land and building)?

Did you purchase any items (assets) for the rental?

Form 4562 was included in my 2021 return through turbo tax but not with my 2022 return.  There was a line in my 2022 return that had depreciation and I am trying to find the detail behind it.  I don't believe I added anything that year or anything changed.

Items are carefully listed on the 4562 when it is placed in service. Then it just gets lumped together into line 17 after that. You should have a form 4562 each year that any items are being depreciated. You may have worksheets as well. When you view your return, mark that you want to see all the worksheets, not just the forms.

For information from when the item was placed in service, you generally need to look at the Form 4562 for that year. Remember, you must save all tax returns from purchase until sold plus 3 years minimum.
