I have a small amount of cash in lieu that I need to report. I know it needs to be on Form 8949, part 2, box F, but I have not been able to find a way to enter it in TurboTax. I've searched the help community, and I haven't been able to find any current solutions that work. Thanks.

To enter the cash in lieu transaction in TurboTax Desktop:

  • Click on Search and type in "Form 1099-B
  • Click on "Jump to from 1099-b
  • Proceed through the intereview

Do not import your 1099-B.  The program will guide you through entering your transaction.  You can refer to your account statements to determine what your cost basis is and what your holding period is.  I use a zero cost and short term.

Thanks for your help, DavidD66. Just what I was looking for, couldn't find it yesterday for whatever reason.
