I am trying to put in the rent amount I have paid for 2022. I lived with two other roommates and we all separately paid portions. Do I put down just what I paid?

You can only claim the amount of rent that you personally paid, not the amount paid by your roommates.  After all, what if they also want to put the rent on their tax returns?  If all of you claimed the full amount it would be "triple dipping."

I suspect that you can only claim the amount of rent that you personally paid.

Are you trying to report rent paid  on a state income tax return?  Are you trying to report the Michigan Homestead Property Tax Credit?

The Michigan Homestead Property Tax Credit can be found in the Michigan tax return at the screen Take a look at Michigan credits and taxes.

You may qualify for a Michigan Homestead Property Tax Credit if all of the following apply:

• You own or were contracted to pay rent and occupied a Michigan homestead for at least 6 months during the year on which property taxes and/or service fees were levied.  If you own your home, your taxable value was $143,000 or less (unless unoccupied farmland)
• Your total household resources were $63,000 or less (part year residents must annualize total household resources to determine if a credit reduction applies)
• Your total household resources do not consist solely of payments received from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services
