I assume that would be the last 8 months of the 2021 tax year, and that you are still residing in Florida with the intent of staying her permanently.

What county are you in? One thing you may need to do (depending on the county) is to file a "declaration of domicile" with the local courthouse, to substantiate your claim of Florida residency. This "can" be a big help, if your old state taxes personal income and wants to tax your Florida based income. (FL does not tax personal income at all.)

If you haven't done so already, you also need to get registered to vote in FL, as well as update your drivers license as soon as possible. If you have school aged kids you "may" need to show proof of school enrollment (not for taxes per-se, but to substantiate your claim of residency for a variety of other things.)

Note also that in FL, what matters is the date of your "intent" to be become a residence. That date could be the date you put your residence up for sale in your old state, and/or the date you signed the sales contract to commit to purchasing your home on FL.

But I digress on things not related to taxes. So what county are you in?

Be aware that "at best" you will be filing a part-year resident state return for the state you left, if that state taxes personal income. So that's why it's important to be able to substantiate a specific date as possible, for your claim as being a FL resident.
