First----is your income SSI or is it Social Security?   Many people confuse those--and they are not the same thing.  If you received a SSA1099, you are getting Social Security---not SSI.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS AND SSI?

https://www.ssa.gov/ssi/text-over-ussi.htm

SSI is not entered on a tax return at all.  It is not taxable.   If you have Social Security, you might need to file a tax return IF you have other income too.  If your only income is Social Security you do not need to file a tax return.

Filing a tax return with only Social Security will not yield an income tax refund unless you had tax withheld from the Social Security.

You cannot get earned income credit for Social Security.  Earned income credit is based on having income from working.

You do not say what state you are in, so we cannot guess if Social Security income might make you eligible for some sort of state rent credit.
