Question

I had a fire in my home and my oil furnace died and flooded my basement. Can I claim the deductibles paid?

In addition to the $2000 in deductibles I had to pay for the two claims, I had to incur the costs of getting a new stove and a new furnace. Is any of this deductible?

No. Personal casualty loss is only deductible if it is related to a federal disaster. That used to not be the case and is scheduled to expire at the end of this year.

I am sorry for your fire and frustration.
