Question

I had to move within the state of Texas due to my work. I now have a mortgage payment and rent. My kids are living in my house so I am paying all. Can I deduct the rent?

No rent payments are not deductible on your federal tax return.  However, you may be able to deduct your mortgage interest and real estates if you itemize your deductions on your tax return.
